>Countdown to London IMATS 2010

Known simply as “The Show” to the make-up world, the International Make-Up Artist Trade Show (IMATS) is the only show of its kind in the world. Thousands of make-up artists, vendors, manufacturers and enthusiasts convene for the make- up world’s biggest gathering to discuss, display, discover and collect the best the industry has to offer. If you’ve ever wanted to learn the techniques or experiment with the products or if you just have an interest in the art of make-up, then Alexandra Palace (located on Alexandra Palace Way near Wood Green) is where you need to be.

I’m officially excited and have started my countdown to this year’s IMATS in London!

Last year’s IMATS was the first year I attended and well if I’m honest it left me a little bit empty and underwhelmed! From the hype of shows in other countries via YouTube, I was expecting BIG things! But unfortunately it didn’t live up to my expectations.

But this year promises to be better! As a freelance makeup artist this is an opportunity to pick up supplies for ones kit at great prices! – can anyone say OCC lip tars or Crown Brushes!?

Not only are there great deals to be had, but the show is a good resource for you to learn new skills from Educators such a Eve Pearl.

But if that hasn’t swayed you, then maybe this will, featured speaker is Terry Barber who is M.A.C.’s director of makeup art for the UK and Europe.

Terry has collaborated with fashion designers such as Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood, done print work for Elle, Marie Claire and Harper’s Bazaar. His celebrity clients include Mary J. Blige, Pamela Anderson, Dita Von Teese, Naomi Campbell. – I’m practically giddy at hearing what Terry has to share.

Other speakers include Alex Box artistic director behind new cult brand Illamasqua. I’m looking forward to Alex, having had the pleasure of watching her do her ‘thang’at the Illamasqua event last year, I know she won’t disapoint! (“,)

This year’s IMATS promises to be an event that you’d be mad to miss out on!

The show is open to the public. No makeup artist credentials are required to get you in the door.

The show hours are Saturday 8.30am – 5pm and Sunday 10am – 5pm.
